About the Book

This collection of poetry is organized chronologically according to places where the poet lived. It begins with his teenage years at home and school in Acton, West London, and proceeds to his four years at Oxford, followed by five years teaching and travelling in Italy. After Italy, he returned to England, where he studied for two years and then continued teaching and writing in London. In his thirties, he moved to Hong Kong and then to China, where he met his wife. They migrated to the United States in 1983, and have been together in Philadelphia, Carbondale, and in Madison, which is where they live today. Each section starts with a recollection of what brought him there and made him move on, as well as feelings, ideas, and people that led him to record his emotions in poetry.
